It's hard to write the ending - because like that Boys II Men song says, I am saying goodbye to "yesterday." I planned the ending in 2005, on a car ride down Highland Avenue with my husband, as Stellastarr's Lost in Time played on the stereo. I can do this, I can end it and I can do it well. Rowling's Harry Potter series, JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy and Frank Herbert's Dune. When I started writing Blue Bloods, I was inspired by Stephen King's Dark Tower series, J.K.
